October is the first true month of fall: the days get slowly shorter and the air begins to have that familiar crispness. Pumpkins appear on doorsteps, and the leaves are resplendent in autumnal color. It is a time when we start to enjoy the benefits of cooler weather: snuggling into cozy sweaters, sipping warm, spiced drinks, and relaxing in front of crackling fires.
